Ethan's Preschool 1 Graduation Week

Ethan transitioned from Preschool 1 to Preschool 2 (more specifically from the zebra room to the raccoon room) in July, and June 24th was their big luau graduation party. The invitation to the party was sent home with the kids weeks ahead to allow parents to plan their schedules accordingly. However, this perfectly illustrated Ethan's lack of concept of time as he asked just about every morning if it was the day of the luau. It was sweet that he was so excited, but it got really annoying to go to the calendar every time he asked.

The whole week was full of special days. Monday was pajama day (oops, forgot to photograph that one), and Ethan wore his zebra jammies which was oh so appropriate. These pics are from backwards day. They all wore their clothes backwards and had pancakes for lunch. I know...crazy.

The next day was silly hat day and we don't really have any silly hats. However, Ethan fit right in with his fireman's hat as there were 2 other kids with cool fireman hats. They came running over when we got there and E felt much better about having his hat at school. He was a bit undcertain about it before we left the house. (have I mentioned how much it drives me crazy that this kid hates having his picture taken!?)

Finally it was time for the big day! I had picked up luau fashions for the whole family on my trip to Hawaii last year so the little man was ready to rock.

As were mommy and daddy! However, we were the only family decked out in our aloha-wear. Oh well. We were the best dressed. ;-)

Hey Ethan...how 'bout you just smile and look in the general direction of the camera?

The kids all sat in their semi-circle and all of a sudden they burst out in song! It was so unexpected and hilarious! They were all singing in their own key at their own pace at the top of their lungs. They sang a song about the colors in the rainbow complete with sign language and then another about their bodies making music (not that kind of music. hands clapping, feet stomping kind of music.

At last it was time for diploma's. Miss Lynn had the honors as the head teacher. E was so excited when it was his turn that he hopped all the way up to her. I cried. I'm pretty sure I was the only parent who did but it was such a big deal! We were so happy and proud of our little man. It was funny to be in the same room with him and have him be so obviously on his own turf. He's such a big boy and he loves school.

Here he is with his buddy Kyle. Kyle has an August birthday and went straight to preK 1 so they are in separate rooms now.

The little graduate!!!

There was a big lunch for all after the ceremony. We were all to bring beach towels to continue with the luau theme, but the floor was pretty hard regardless. Here are my boys enjoying some pizza together. I love them so much! They are such buddies it's ridiculous.

Congratulations little man! Mommy and daddy couldn't be more proud of you.
