Meet Scout

While I was in Paris (I am still working on that post!), Grandma Suzanne came to visit and help with the boys.  As Grandma's are knows to do, she let the boys pick out a gift from her and Pop-Pop. Scout was Jacob's pick and he has been attached to him ever since!

This is the first object that he has shown an attachment to!  Since then, he loves to carry/drag around blankets and has shown some interest in other stuffed toys but Scout is the best.  He sings silly songs and he also sings lullaby's.  Every night at bedtime we hug Scout goodnight and he sings Jacob to sleep (at least that's the plan...).

Steve and I were both so grateful to have her here to help out while I was away.  I know that all parties had a great time...thanks mom!

Wilmington Rec Basketball

We signed Ethan up for basketball through the Wilmington Recreation Department this time around. Tommy signed up too so the boys were excited to play together! It's funny because they always sit next to each other during the circle time at the beginning and then they "count off" for which team and they end up playing against each other every time! Not that there's much real game action going on, but I think it's funny they haven't figure that out yet.

I love that they did a class picture!  Ethan was excited to do the drills but did not enjoy the scrimmaging.

Two Silly Friends

I think we might wait another year or two before we try basketball again. It's a pretty tricky sport for little people. He's playing soccer now and seems to enjoy that a bit more so we'll see! It is really fun to be in that swing and meet the kids and parents around the town. Between sports and birthday parties we have very busy weekends!

More February

Typical Jacob.  Way, way too busy to be stopped for a picture!  Ethan is great about trying to help me contain him, but he gets wiggly and squealy really fast!

There were quite a few days in February where I had to wake Jacob up from his nap for fear of a late night from him.  He was so asleep this time that I had to capture this peaceful moment!

Steve showed Jacob how to blow the bubbles off of his hand and now he always holds up his hand for us to blow on his fingers whether there are bubbles or not.

Yesterday Jacob decided that walking just wasn't getting him places fast enough so he started running!  It's a funny little prance that looks more like foot fire (remember basketball drills?).

Money Bags

Ethan has really impressed us these last 2 months with his determination to save money for a new Lego set. After he got so many for Christmas and birthday, Steve and I cut him off completely and told him he had to start paying for his own Legos. He had gotten $10 for his birthday so he was off to a good start but he was set on saving for Jay's Storm Fighter which is a Ninjago set and it cost $25. Ethan started helping unload the dishwasher, washing the dishes, helping me with the laundry, helping Steve with the recycling, and other little jobs we would come up with for him. After almost 2 months, he did it! Well, almost. He got to $21.35 and he got a $5 reward from his Lego VIP account so that got him the rest of the way there. Last Friday we met the Barnes family at the Lego store so that the boys could spend their money.

Of course he's already talking about the next 2 sets he wants to save for but he took last weekend off. At least that's what he told me when I asked for his help with the dishes on Monday! Tonight he mentioned that he wanted to get to work this weekend to earn some more money. We need to come up with a regular system with regular values because the whole thing has been ad hoc so far, but he is really into helping us and he really is a help!  We're so proud of him!

I can't believe I forgot this part of this post!  Ethan was so excited when we left the mall that he could not wait to open the box.  However, it had been such an exciting day that he fell asleep on the way home...holding onto his precious Legos.

Dinner Terms

Tonight, Steve made eggplant parmesan for dinner.  It's one of the few meals that all 4 of us will eat!  Ethan was whining, whining, whining that he did not want to eat it.  Eventually he told me he didn't want to eat it tonight but would eat it tomorrow night.  I asked him if he was serious, he said yes and so...I put him under contract.

I can't wait to see if this actually works!
