A Little Bit of April

Most of our April pictures are from our trip to Florida, but here are a few from around town.
Jacob in a Hood.

April 6 was Ethan's first day of Spring soccer and it was FREEZING!

Ethan has been doing so well in Kindergarten and we have been so impressed with his progress in reading, writing and artwork.  This was a tough week for him with his effort and we got 3 worksheets with "concerned" comments at once!  I don't think we saw such comments before or after this week but I wanted to capture it...he's not perfect after all.

Yeah...so cute...so not helpful.

On April 26, the boys and I headed out to check out the new trail that opened near our house on the other side of the pond.  It's an old fire road that's always been there but it was new to us!

Of course we had to bring snacks and water.  I mean, I think we probably walked more than .25 miles at this point.

How are those binoculars working for you Jacob?

Jacob was quite the slow poke that day.  His stick fetish did not help his pace.

We all willingly shared the burden of the backpack.

I often have to wake Jacob up from his nap but on this day he was out cold!  I love how he sleeps with his hands under his face.  We so rarely see him at rest.  I cherish this picture.

March Madness

As promised...here's what we were up to in March!

The very first day of March, I took Jacob to The Stone Zoo.  I have been blessed with Friday's off with my guys but with so much to do around the house, the time isn't always as fun or quality as I would like.  This day was just for us to get out and have some fun!

I wish I could remember the caption for this one.  The bears were tossing that barrel around to get treats out and they started fighting over it pretty good while we were watching.  I forget what he was yelling here.

"roar"

The flamingos were his favorite part!

Just as exciting as the animals...too bad mommy wasn't playing.

I think I mentioned before how much we've been goofing around with the couch cushions this winter.  Forts aren't just for living rooms!

Daddy as prisoner.

Mamas boy.

OK...so this is out of order, but it's still sweet!

Silly me.  I tried to throw away the giant popcorn bucket where there were still several perfectly good kernels left.

A rare moment with Ethan outside and Jacob in!

March 8th we had our first sleepover at our house with Cole.  The boys were up way too late but it was fun!

The next day Ethan went to play at Cole's house for a while so we strapped on snowshoes and headed out with Jacob.

Funny story...on March 10th I decided to take E out for one more shot at the slopes this year.  We went to Wachusset Mountain and it was packed!  I knew we were just going to hit the beginner hills so I told them E was 5 to save a few bucks.  I know, shame on me, but whatever.  It became clear almost immediately that I wasn't going to be able to teach my child anything.  He clung to me as though his life depended on it and we were both getting frustrated.  I decided to put him in a 1:00 lesson and get this...you have to be 6!!  Luckily the Lewis's were there and Matt offered to take Ethan on himself.  Ethan was quite unsure of that arrangement but cooperated  to the best of his ability.

One of the goals we had for the season was to get Ethan on a chair lift (as opposed to the carpet lift).  Wachusset has a lift that services green circle trails so we went for it!  He was so excited.

Matt was a trooper the whole, long, way down.

Ethan couldn't believe how far he had made it!  He was done after that but I was so proud of him (and grateful to Matt!).

On March 15, we had a visit from Jamie and Emma.  The little ones were very excited for Ethan to get off the bus.

At bedtime Ethan really wanted to read to the little ones.  Unfortunately, the little ones had different ideas.  They were trying to read their own books and eventually climbed down and ran off.  Ethan just kept on reading.  It was very sweet.

Haircut day!

On March 19th, we got even more snow.  I had had a lot of practice getting them ready to go out and they were still happy to be out so it worked!  But is was getting old...

Good morning Jacob!

A brief attempt at a puzzle.

A brief attempt at Angry Birds.

March 23rd we were back to the Cape and at the Children's Museum in Mashpee.  I love this picture of my sensitive tough guy.

What's up princess firefighter?

Jacob broke more eggs than he kept but he had fun!

Ethan grabbed a pot lid for a shield...Jacob grabbed the pot.

Brothers out for a cruise.

Did the Easter Bunny come to Grandma's house??

He sure did!

These two were crazy busy this day.  I think the chocolate certainly had a lot to do with it but they were running lap after lap around the house.

Next up...April!
