Assorted weekend pics

Great Grandma Peg is in town! I have no pictures to prove it because I forgot to get them from Auntie Jamie before she left this morning but we will see her again next weekend. We had a nice visit with her and Auntie Linda on Friday.

Not too much to report this weekend. More constant entertainment from our munchkin and a whole lot of whining too. He's becoming less and less patient with us when he doesn't get his way. Luckily he's into impressing anybody that isn't us and he was very good for Jamie yesterday when she babysat for us. He didn't nap long, but he didn't make a big deal about it either. Nap time at home is a ridiculous challenge for us considering he sleeps on a mat at daycare! At home he either falls asleep in the car, in his stroller or not at all.

The weekend started with me throwing him away.

Yesterday morning he was hitting a ball with his bat and saying he was Josh Beckett. He had this funny thing he did with his right hip that you can kind of see in this first picture.

This is what happens whenever I try to get video of him. He's too interested in watching himself and completely stops what he's doing! He especially likes watching videos that include Katie.

I did manage to get a little video after he calmed down.

We got his haircut again today. His 5th in 10 months! No shortage or hair on this kid. We had snack outside after his nap today.

Tonight he finally let me take him for a walk in the backpack. He fought me for a while but we had a really nice walk and met some more of our neighbors. We figured out that part of it unzips into a smaller backpack and Ethan thought that was pretty cool. I apparently thought he looked adorable because I took a bunch of pictures of him!

I was letting Ethan help me make meatloaf tonight (excuse the leftover baked ziti in the foreground...and the rest of the mess for that matter!) and he started that task by spilling my water. At least he tried to help me clean it up.

I think he was concerned that I wasn't going to let him help me anymore.

6 years later...

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary! We had a fabulous date night last night in Boston. We had drinks at Top of the Hub and dinner at Morton's. We were so full from dinner we couldn't even finish dessert! I think that is a first for us. It was a good thing we got out last night because Ethan's presents to us were several temper tantrums and no nap. The first was over Thomas, the second over a balloon at the grocery store, and the third over Cheezits. We were exhausted by the time he went to bed! Now I'm on the computer and Steve is watching the Steelers game. Happy Anniversary to us...

I gave Ethan the bag of Pirate Booty (that's a natural version of Jax cheese curls) because there was only a little left so I didn't mind if he ate it all. I wasn't thinking about how much flaky cheese was in the bottom of the bag! This was a huge mess to clean up. Silly mommy.

I think I'm finally up to date with my blogging! We've been quite the busy family lately but I think things are going to settle down in the next few weeks. Ethan is doing well in his new room at day care. We are getting used to his new teachers and drop off is starting to go better. He is getting very good at his counting. He can count to 3 and sometimes surprises us with other numbers when we're counting for him. Yesterday he jumped in with "7" after Jamie got to 6 which was pretty exciting! He still thinks every color is "geen" but we're working on that. Our favorite word is "nown-snairs". He says it very carefully and often whiny but we always make him ask more than once because we love it! He is all about "hab-it" when he wants something and "ope-it" when he wants you to open something. He says "bess-you" when you sneeze and said thank you for the first time unsolicited yesterday. He's still a bigger fan of "mo'" than "pease" at meal times but he is amazing us with all that he's learning.

Goodnight!

Assorted Videos

Videos take a long time to upload so I don't always take the time to add them. Here are a few that I thought worthy of waiting for.

This was at Family Fun Night a few weeks ago. E wanted a balloon (a "geen" one. it's the only color he knows although "lellow" is gaining popularity) so I tied it to his belt buckle so it wouldn't fly away. It's really hard to throw an attached balloon away.

We were cracking up watching E try to climb up this slide that is not even as tall as he is!

We found a guitar thats just the right size for Ethan. He's singing his own version of Mr Golden Sun or whatever the title is by Raffi.

A day at home

This morning we changed Ethan's high chair into a booster seat! The big boy will now be enjoying meal time at the same level as the adults. He was not nearly as impressed by the milestone as we were.

We're going through all of his old toys to make room for new ones. Everything I tried to put away he took back out.

While he was napping, Steve put together the train table we bought him for Christmas. We couldn't wait to set it up, he couldn't wait to take it apart.

Now Auntie Jamie and Sedona are here to play with Ethan while Steve and I head out for our anniversary. 6 years tomorrow!

Dowses Beach Night

Ethan and I drove down to the Cape last Friday afternoon. It was a hot and sticky day and we couldn't wait to get to the beach! We headed to Dowses with wine and snacks for grown ups and dinner for Ethan.

Of course as soon as I try to relax I become a jungle gym.

At least I got a little lovin' out of it.

He was cracking himself up with these sun glasses we found.

I found the headband I wore in our wedding. Ethan made quite the handsome princess but wasn't interested in posing for photos.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend ended up being quite laborious for us! We all drove to the Cape Thursday night and then helped Grandma Jan hold a yard sale. We have found that having a babysitter is key to getting just about anything productive done. Grandma Jan's friend Francee came over with her granddaughter Danielle to watch Ethan for us. This is really special because Francee's daughter Jennifer used to babysit for me and Jamie! You know you're old when...

Here they are enjoying their lunch on the front yard. Ethan likes to play it cool around the ladies.

We ended every day with a trip to Millway to let Ethan run around at the beach. It was low tide at that time of day and Mr. Man had a blast with the hermit crabs (key-cabs) and snails.

On Sunday, Steve and Grandma Jan took Ethan to Edaville Railroad to meet Thomas! Ethan wasn't so sure about this place with all the kids.

Then he couldn't decide which way to go first!

Waving "hello" to Thomas

He had his tickets ready to go! Although he did enjoy looking at Thomas more than riding on him.

This experience has turned Ethan into Thomas' biggest fan! In addition to the hat, he got a t-shirt and a book. He throws a complete fit when you try to take the shirt off of him and then when it's off he has to carry it around. You can only imagine how many times we've read the book...
