Emma's Birthday Weekend

I've already told you about the day that Emma Lynne joined the world, but the rest of that weekend was pretty cool too! The weather was amazing, as has been the case with a lot of this summer, and The Hexter Family was in town! Ethan loves to play with Evan and Christopher, and I love getting the opportunity to catch up with my girl Courtney. Oh yeah, Steve and Josh were there too. We spent Friday night on the porch of their Cotuit cottage listening to the kids play and catching up with Each other.

Saturday night Grandpa Cliff, Louise and Alex hung out with the little man while Steve and I went out on a date. We started out at Mattakeese Wharf in Barnstable Harbor for apps and sunset and we were not disappointed. After that we headed to Tug Boats for dinner and enjoyed a pre-dinner "drink" at the upper deck overlooking Hyannis Harbor. From there we headed to Baxters and met up with Carina and Todd for more time on the water. It was great to have time alone and time with friends too!

Sunday morning was a mini ladies of BHS class of '94 reunion when we met Alicia, Courtney, Tracy, Nancy, Amy, Kim and Carina plus some of the boys and kids at Dowses Beach (where else would we be?). Kim got to share her exciting engagement news (congrats babe!) and the rest of us were of course gabbing away when we weren't being interrupted by our munchkins. It was a very windy day and the waves were a little too much for swimming but Ethan was having a blast anyway.

At one point, a rogue wave that came in and knocked him on his butt. He scraped up his side and was pretty devastated about it for a while. I wrapped him in a towel and then used another towel to protect him by the wind and we cuddled in my chair for a while. We even had lunch in our little tent. It was a nice timeout for me and the little guy. Then he was off to the backside of the beach with Steve, Josh, John and the boys for some crab/minnow catching!
JR hung back with us ladies and couldn't resist Carina's polka dot bikini.

We were all hysterical over this as you can imagine.

We did draw the line when it looked like he was going to take off the suit, but man was that funny to watch!

Some of you may have seen this post before I finished it. Ethan was "helping" me and gave it some crazy name and then managed to post it under his crazy name before heading off to bed. He does love to help!
