Our First Days Home

Jacob is already 6 weeks old and going back to the beginning is pretty wild! They grow and change so much in the first year and we're already amazed at how this little newborn is turning into a baby, complete with smiles.

We came home in the afternoon on Thursday November 18th. Random Schoenholtz Fun Fact: both of our boys were due on and came home on Thursdays.

Before we get to the home photos, let me remind you that all throughout my 3rd trimester, we had the landscaping job from hell going on. The guys came back to finish what they started in September the same week that I went into the hospital with Jacob. Ethan was thrilled to have the machines back and put on one of his favorite picture faces for this one.

When Steve left to pick up a few things, including Ethan, I took a shower and the papasan chair was back in action! This is the one baby item that I was most excited to use again. Ethan took countless naps in this chair and it looks so soft and cozy. Jacob was a fan right of the bat.

It's so crazy to have 2 kids! Ethan started out very ambivalent about his baby brother but did agree to hold him a few times. As we all know, Ethan is addicted to sucking his left pointer. It appears that baby brother may be following in his fingersteps with his right hand. It's not clear which finger he prefers, but on Saturday night, 4 days into his life, Jacob got his right pointer into his mouth and soothed himself to sleep.

Gotta love a good swaddle. What a sweet little package!

We laugh at how startled he always looks. We started out thinking that he was just really, really alert, but sometime he gets this panicked look of "how did I get here?" and "who are you people?".

Ethan is still partial to losing his pants at the end of the day. Jacob does not look comfortable at all in this one! I don't think he completely trusts his big brother just yet.

Meeting Cousin Emma for the first time!! It was great to see the gym getting some use too. Ethan clocked many an hour in this bad boy.

I love how really new babies can't help but stay curled up like a little bug! That is the ultimate fetal position.

Emma ready to head home, Jacob ready for his first Dr's appt.

There's nothing sweeter than a milk drunk baby face.

Especially when accompanied by big brother going "Mommy! Mommy! look at me! take my picture!"

Naked and sleepy in flannel. It doesn't get more cozy than this.
